How Anxiety and OCD Can Show Up

Constant worry or overthinking, even when things are going well

Intrusive thoughts that feel distressing or out of character

Trouble sleeping, muscle tension, or a stomach that reacts to stress

Checking, reviewing or seeking reassurance to feel at ease

Anxiety rarely shows up alone. It often overlaps with ADHD, depression, or burnout, and understanding how they connect is an important part of the evaluation.

Evaluation and Treatment

Evaluation begins with a full-hour appointment covering your history, what has or hasn’t helped before, and how sleep, stress, physical health, and life circumstances affect your symptoms.

Treatment is chosen together. For anxiety, SSRIs and SNRIs and other non-habit-forming medications are common options. For OCD, SSRIs are the most studied, and they work best alongside exposure and response prevention (ERP) therapy, so Viewpoint works closely with your therapist. The approach is to start low, adjust carefully, and pay attention to sleep, caffeine, alcohol, and cannabis, which all affect anxiety.
