Depression & Burnout Treatment for Adults
Do you feel tired in a way rest doesn’t fix? Depression doesn’t always look like sadness. It can show up as exhaustion, irritability, low motivation, or a quiet loss of interest in what once mattered.
Burnout can look much the same, and understanding which one you’re facing, or whether it’s both, shapes the right treatment.

How Depression and Burnout Can Show Up
Exhaustion that doesn’t lift with sleep or time off
Low motivation, or dreading things that used to feel manageable
Trouble concentrating, and changes in sleep or appetite
Irritability, numbness, or feeling detached from people you care about
Burnout is usually tied to sustained stress, often at work, while depression tends to follow you everywhere. They often overlap with anxiety, and telling them apart is part of the evaluation.

Evaluation and Treatment
Evaluation begins with a full-hour appointment covering your history, past treatments, and how sleep, stress, physical health, and life circumstances affect your mood.
Treatment is chosen together and tailored to you.
Options may include SSRIs, SNRIs, bupropion, and newer medications, selected with attention to side effects that matter to you, such as energy, weight, and sexual function. The approach is to start low, adjust carefully, and pair medication with attention to sleep, movement, light, and the therapy you may already be doing.
